APDs (InGaAs)
Unlike common APDs, which have noisy avalanche gain, our custom-engineered, industry-leading advanced InGaAs APDs offer extremely low dark current and half the excess noise, providing superior range and false-alarm performance. These APDs are sensitive over the 950 – 1750-nm spectrum, including the eyesafe spectral region beyond 1300 nm.

Laser Rangefinders—Eyesafe
Answering the previously unmet need for a cost-effective eye-safe laser rangefinder (LRF), our new class of compact, eye-safe LRFs offers the highest performance at a fraction of the cost and is sufficiently small and lightweight for handheld, weapon-mounted, or unmanned vehicle integration. This new class of easy-to-operate, easy-to-program eye-safe LRF was custom-developed for use in high-performance consumer, commercial and industrial applications, and for integration with low-divergence diffraction-limited diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser pulses, state-of-the-art InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD) receivers, and custom CMOS readout circuits to achieve long ranging, even in harsh environmental conditions, with less laser power.
LRF Modules for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
Our cost-effective compact LRF modules for original equipment manufacturers allow 1534 nm InGaAs APD laser ranging capabilities to be integrated quickly and efficiently into optical scopes and electro-optical systems. These turnkey LRF modules are easily software-programmed and reconfigured. They are calibrated at the factory for optimal operation over a wide temperature range and are rugged to harsh operating conditions.
These products are EAR 99 approved.

Scanned Lidar and Laser Ranging InGaAs APD Photoreceivers
Scanned Lidar and Laser Ranging Photoreceivers (InGaAs APD)
Our laser ranging photoreceiver products—which include custom pulse detection and processing circuits—achieve state of the art sensitivity that enables reducing laser pulse energy requirements by a factor of at least 20 compared to PIN photodiode receivers and a factor of at least five compared to competitor APD photoreceivers.
To achieve the stable gain required for the highest sensitivity imaging capabilities of our APD photoreceivers—especially at higher temperature operation, where impact ionization would otherwise decrease, leading to unstable gain witnessed as noise—temperature is monitored thousands of times per second and APD bias is optimized by a microcontroller integrated into the TO-8 package.
To give system designers a turnkey laser ranging solution for thermal, electro-optical and optical scope integration, these photoreceivers are available with optional laser ranging control electronics to control a user-provided laser. The result is a compact, lightweight, highly reliable ranging module with excellent performance.
